A few months ago, one of my faculty came in, sat down near my desk, and said "I like your earrings!" Well, I thought this strange, as researchers do not usually take into account fashion in any shape or form. (Sorry for the generalization, but that has been my experience thus far). I said thank you of course, but also looked at him rather quizzically. He then said, "Well, they look like Staphylococcus aureus!" Of course, they caught his attention because they look like bacteria, now that is a researcher for you!
